Tim Guinee was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Illinois and Texas. As a teenager, he graduated from the Houston High School for Performing Arts. He then attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts (where he eventually received an honorary doctorate).
